  • ( ) Man held in connection with Calgary LRT killing

    Calgary police have arrested a man in connection with the death of a 40-year-old mother of five, believed to be the victim of a random killing that has kept the city on edge for the past week.

    In a very brief statement to reporters Thursday night, Duty Inspector Guy Slater announced the arrest was made late Thursday afternoon. The man had not been charged with any offence as of Thursday night.

    "What we're trying to determine now is the role this man played in the homicide."

    The news of the arrest comes after police this week issued a public warning for women to avoid deserted transit platforms and bus stops, and to stay in well-lit areas or in groups when out at night. Duty Insp. Slater last night stressed that women should remain alert and vigilant. More>>

  • ( ) Sunnyvale Man Disappears While Running Errands

    SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Mountain View police issued a press release informing the public of an active search they are conducting for an elderly man who disappeared from the downtown area Wednesday.

    Sut Yue, an 88-year-old Sunnyvale man, is considered an "at-risk" missing person due to his age and medical condition, police said.

    Yue was last seen by his wife sitting inside their parked car at the post office located at 211 Hope St., at about 1:30 p.m., the press release said. When his wife went into the post office and when she returned to the car, he was gone. . More>>
